NEW WATER FOR THE NEW SEASON

STUNNINGLY BEAUTIFUL NEW RIVER VENUE

NEW WATER FOR THE NEW SEASON. Fishing Waters in Stoke On Trent and Staffordshire

What better way to celebrate our long awaited return to fishing than by adding a new venue to our membership card.

We have been hard at work during the enforced closed season not only carrying out maintenance and security tasks but also negotiating a licence on this truly stunning stretch of the River Churnet at Consall Forge. Existing members are already familiar with our other stretches of this superb river and will need no introduction to it's fabulous fish filled pools and glides as it makes it's way through the beautiful Churnet Valley.

This stretch has something for everyone, consisting of a canalised section which gives way to the river proper by way of a spectacular weir pool and then on to the more familiar features of the river.

Coarse fish are the main inhabitants of the canalised section with huge shoals of quality Bream, dace and roach to be found throughout the length, large perch and pike are present as are the odd chub, carp to a good size have been landed and tench are also present following a stocking in recent years.

The river section is also home to numerous coarse fish and good chub can be expected among the many other species present. As is expected from the Churnet quality trout and grayling are present in numbers for the game angler with some superb holding pools and fast runs to be explored.

The venue, added to our pools at Consall gives members a wonderful range of fishing opportunities in the area and we can look forward to the hospitality of Jason at the Black lion Inn for a bite to eat and a cold beer after a hard days fishing.

The river does need attention to open up swims and we have made a start but with social distancing measures in mind we are only allowing a small team to attend. The work is expected to take some time to complete but will be ready for the opening day on June 16th.
